Searcy & Co. .470 Nitro Express double rifle — serial SS0002 — with a fully engraved receiver, cased in factory leather, estimated at $30,000–$50,000. Lot 238, a Browning Centennial four-gun set with matching knives, is estimated at $20,000–$30,000. The antique Colt section is exceptional: a cased pair of Model 1848 Baby Dragoons (Lot 189, est. $10,000–$20,000); a Colt Sheriff’s Model SAA with Colt factory letter (Lot 185); an engraved Massachusetts-marked 2nd Model Dragoon (Lot 186); and a U.S. Artillery Model 1873 with factory letter (Lot 318). Lot 189: Rare Double Cased Set Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoons
Cased Set of Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon .31 Caliber Five Shot Percussion Pistols. These Pistols, Circa 1850, are Serial Numbers 14579 and 14591. Each Pistol has a 6in Octagonal Barrel with Blue and Case Hardening, Pin Front Sights, Case Colored Loading Levers and Silver Plated Square Back Trigger Guards. The Cylinders Feature the Same Holdup Scene as the Subsequent Model 1849 Pocket Revolvers. Both Pistols Display 65%-75% of the Cylinder Scene. These Pistols Both Show Small Amounts of Original Blue Finish in Protected Areas with Case Hardened Frames Showing Toning Case Colors. The Smooth Walnut Grips have been Lightly Cleaned and Both are in Very Good Condition with Small Mars and Slight Shrinkage. The Pistols Show All Matching Visible Serial Numbers. The Pistols are Cased in a Period Hardwood Partition Case with a Relined Interior. The Mold is a Correct Colt Marked Brass Example, the Flask is a Reproduction with Two Eley Bros. Cap Tins, "L" Shaped Combination Tool and Key. The Exterior of the Box is in Good Condition with an Extra Coat of Varnish Added. These Desirable Colts are Sometimes Referred to as the "Squareback 49in as They were Manufactured at the Tail End of the Model 1848 Baby Dragoon Production and Incorporate Many Features of the 1849 Pocket Model. Although Not Consecutive, the Pair are Very Close and the Casing is Correct on These Desirable, Transitional Pistols with Scarce Six Inch Barrels. Double Cased Sets are Rare and These Pistols Appear to have been Together for a Long Time.

Original Colt SAA Sheriff's Model (No Ejector Housing) .45 Caliber Revolver. This First Model Black Powder Frame Pistol is Serial Number 122387 and was Manufactured in 1891 as Confirmed by the Accompanying Colt Factory Letter. The Pistol is in Very Good Overall Condition with a 4" Barrel, Blue and Case Hardened Finish. The Gun has Gone to an Even Gray Patina with Traces of Toning Blue Finish in the Cylinder Flutes and Other Protected Areas. The Pistol Shows Areas of Light Surface Erosion and Small Mars. The Two-Line Hartford Barrel Address is Crisp and the Screw Heads are Good. The Action Works Well, with All Four Clicks, and the Timing is Good. The Checkered Hard Rubber Eagle Grips are in Good Condition Showing Moderate Wear and Use. They Fit Well and They're Slightly Undersized at the Butt. The Bore is Fair, the Action is Crisp, and the Markings are Sharp. The Lot Includes a Colt Factory Letter Confirming the Features and Indicating That the Pistol was Shipped to Hartley and Graham, Ny, Ny on June 13Th, 1891, One Gun in Shipment. The Sheriff's Single Action Pistols are Very Sought After and Scare in This Untouched Condition.
Lot 188: Colt Model 1860 Army Richards Conversion
Colt Model 1860 Army Richards Conversion 44 Caliber Revolver. The Pistol is Serial Number 2200 as Confirmed by the Accompanying Colt Factory Letter and was Manufactured in December of 1860. The Pistol has been Converted to Center Fire and is in Very Good to Nearly Fine Overall Condition. The Pistol Retains Approximately 40%-50% Toning Blue Finish with a Crisp Cylinder Scene. The 8in Barrel has a Sharp Barrel Address and a German Silver Blade Front Sight. The Conversion is Marked "942" on Both Sides of the Cylinder, Otherwise the Pistol Reflects All Matching Visible Serial Numbers. The Frame and Trigger Show Muted Case Colors. The Front Strap is Brass and the Rear Strap is Iron. The Smooth Walnut Grips Show Numerous Mars and Compressions with a Significant Amount of Varnish Retained. The Action is Crisp and the Timing is Good. The Pistol is Cased in a Relined Period English Style Single Action Case with Green Baize Interior. Case Includes a Reproduction Box of Cartridges, Pewter Oil Bottle and Assorted 44 Colt and 44 Webley Cartridges. The Case is in Very Good Condition as Refinished. The Lot Includes a Colt Factory Letter Indicating That the Pistol was Shipped to Georgia on December 27Th, 1860 in a Shipment of 300 Guns. A Rare, Georgia Shipped Colt 1860 Army That was Later Changed Over to a Richards Conversion Center Fire in a Period Case.

Engraved Colt 2Nd Model Massachusetts Marked Dragoon .44 Caliber Percussion Revolver, Serial Number 10597. This Pistol was Post-War Commercially Engraved and Silver Plated with Approximately 80%-90% Coverage in Scroll and Vine Engraving. The Pistol Retains a Significant Amount of Flaking Silver Finish with the Majority of the Cylinder Showing Burnished Copper Finish, the Brass Straps are Bright with Crisp Engraving. The Barrel Address and Markings are Sharp, as is the "Ms" in Front of the Trigger Guard. The Pistol has All Matching Visible Serial Numbers. The Carved Natural Material Grips have a Great Patina with a Beautifully Carved Mermaid on the Left Panel. The Action Functions Well with Good Timing. The Pistol is Cased in a Re-Lined Partition Case with a Colt-Marked Musket-Size Flask, Correct Brass Dragoon Mold, Cap Tin, Pewter Oil Bottle, the "L" Shaped Utility Tool, and the Reproduction Package of Skin Cartridges. The Case is in Very Good Condition as Refinished. The Pistol was Likely Refinished and Engraved Post Civil War, Based on the Silver Over Copper Style of Plating. A Nice Set with a Scarce "Ms" Marked Second Model in a Nice Case with Outstanding Grips.

Cased Colt Model 1861 Navy 36 Caliber, Six Shot Percussion Revolver. The Pistol is Serial Number 3941 and was Manufactured in 1861 with a Colt Factory Letter Confirming the Date. The Pistol Features a 7.5" Round Barrel with a German Silver Blade Front Sight, Blue and Case Hardened with an Unfluted Cylinder and Standard Naval Battle Scene. The Pistol Retains a Significant Amount of an Old Quality Refinish Showing Approximately 85% to 95% Blueing with Vivid Case Colors Present on the Frame, Loading Lever and Hammer. The Markings are Sharp with the Cylinder Scene at 80% to 90%. The Smooth Walnut Grips are in Very Good Condition as Refinished. The Pistol is Mechanically Very Good with a Smooth Action and Very Good Timing. All Matching Visible Serial Numbers. The Pistol Comes in a Period Partition Case with Green Velveteen Interior in Good Overall Condition with Some Areas of Damage and Wear. The Case Includes an Incorrect Colt Marked Musket-Size Flask, Colt Marked "36B" Mold in Good Condition, Six Pack of Skin Cartridges, Eley Cap Tin, "L" Shaped Combination Tool, Balls and Key. The Exterior of the Case in in Good Condition with Mars and Some Staining on the Lid. The Lot Includes a Colt Factory Letter Confirming All Features and Indicating the Pistol was Sent to the US Navy Department Commanding Officer, US Navy Yard, Boston, Massachusetts. The Pistol was Shipped on December 20, 1861 in a Shipment of 200 Guns. A Professionally Refinished 1861 Navy with a Correct Case and Accessories That was Shipped During the First Year of the Civil War.

US Historical Society Colt Roy Rogers Commemorative with Fully Engraved with Mother of Pearl Grips, Featuring Roy's Initials on the Left Panel and "50 Years of Entertainment and Public Service 1940-1990" on the Right Panel. The Gun is Fully Engraved with a Gold Hammer, Trigger, and Screws. The Lot Comes with a Letter of Authenticity, Presentation Case and Gloves. Looks to have Sat for a Long Time. Will What Improve from a Good Overall Cleaning.
Lot 318: Colt Model Artillery
This is a Fine Example of a U.S. Colt Model 1873 Revolver with "Artillery" Modifications Performed by Colt in 1900, as Described in the Accompanying Colt Factory Letter. This Revolver is One of the 5,444 "Artillery Model" Model 1873 Single Action Revolvers Refurbished by Colt of the U.S. Army Between 1900 and 1903. These Revolvers have Components with Mixed Serial Numbers and were Intended for Issue to Troops in the Philippine Islands as Replacements for the Colt Model 1896 Da Revolver, Which was Determined to be Ineffective. The Revolver has a High Polish Blue Finish on the Barrel, Ejector Housing Cylinder, Trigger Guard and Back Strap. The Frame, Loading Gate and Hammer have a Color Casehardened Finish. The One-Piece Walnut Grip is Oil-Finished with No Visible Cartouches, and a "P" Proof at the Base of the Right Grip Panel. The Cylinder is Serial Number "4998" with an Ainsworth "a" Proof and Standard "P" Proof. The Frame is a Serial Number "9657", the Trigger Guard is "4010" with an Additional Ainsworth "a" Proof. The Back Strap is Serial Number "54639". The Serial Numbers of the Frame and Cylinder are Within the Range of Pistols Known to have been Shipped to the 7Th Cavalry. The Trigger Guard is from Lot 4 and the Cylinder from the Desirable Lot 5. The Barrel has "J.T.C" for John T. Cleveland and "P" Proof. The Frame Shows a Two-Line Patent Date and Crisp "U.S." Property Mark. The Pistol Retains Approximately 95%-97% of the Blue Finish and 96%-98% of the Vivid Case Coloring, Both of Which have been Refreshed During the Period of Use. The Loading Gate has an Assembly Number, "883" Stamped Inside. The Front Sight has been Slightly Slimmed and Shows Feathering Marks on Both Sides of the Barrel. The Pistol Features the Correct Doughnut Extractor. The Smooth Walnut Grips are in Excellent Condition and Fit Very Well. There are No Visible Cartouches. The Screw Heads are Clean and Show Bright Niter Blue Finish, as Does the Trigger. There is a "C" Proof in the Hammer Channel. The Action is Crisp and the Timing is Excellent. The Accompanying Colt Letter Confirms the Features with the Barrel Length and Type of Stocks Shown as "Not Listed". The Pistol was Manufactured in 1874 and Subsequently Returned to the Colt Factory Refurbishing and Reshipment. The Pistol was Shipped to the United States Government, Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts on December 18, 1900 with 50 Guns in Shipment. An Exceptional Artillery Revolver with Some Early Ainsworth Marked Parts Within the Range of Pistols Shipped to the 7Th Cavalry.

Manufactured in 1886. Round Barrel and Full-Length Magazine Retaining 30-40% Blue Finish Drifting to an Even Brown Patina. There are No Visible Cracks in Wood. Slight Signs of Nickel Finish in Protected Areas. Appears in Good Working Order. Bore Good, Appears Honest with A-Typical Pitting from the 44 Henry Round. This Rifle is of the Type That Went West and Shows Signs of Carry and Use.

Manufactured in 1869 with the 20" Round Barrel and Full-Length Magazine Showing 80-85% Original Blue Drifting to Brown Patina. The Receiver Shows an Overall Brass Patina. Wood Showing Multiple Dings and Repairs with a Wood Putty Right Side at Upper Tang. Gun is in Excellent Working Order with a Very Good Bore Showing a Small Amount of Roughness and Light Pitting, Hard to Find Them This Nice, in the Desirable 44 Henry Caliber.

Colt Model 1871-72 .44 Rimfire Caliber Revolver, the Pistol is Serial Number 2046 and was Manufactured in 1873 as Confirmed by the Accompanying Colt Factory Letter. The Pistol is in Very Good Condition with a 7.5 Inch Barrel. The Pistol has Gone to an Even Gray Brown Patina with Traces of the Original Blue Still Evident in Protected Areas and Scattered Surface Erosion. The Iron Straps have Gone to Gray Patina with Scattered Light Surface Rust. The Front Sight is German Silver and Slightly Reduced Due to Holster Wear. The Cylinder Patent Markings, Serial Number and Naval Scene are Light but Still Visible. All Visible Serial Numbers are Matching with an Old Period Replacement Wedge. The Smooth Walnut Grips are "Army" Size, in Good Overall Condition and Show an Old Coat of Extra Varnish. The Bore is Fair and May Clean to Good. The Action Functions Well and the Timing is Good. The Pistol is Serialized in Its Own Range with Approximately 7,000 Total Pistols Manufactured. The Lot Includes a Colt Factory Letter Indicating the Pistol was Shipped to Spies, Kissam & Company of New York, Ny on August 20Th, 1873 in a Shipment of 50 Guns. The Predecessor to the Model 1873 Single Action Army, the Open Top Revolvers are Scarce and Desirable and This Example Shows Use and Wear Consistent with the Type of Gun That Went West to the Frontier.

Cased Colt Model 1862 Police 5-Shot Revolver. Pistol is Serial Number 15124 and was Manufactured in 1863 During the Height of the Civil War. It Features a Desirable 6.5In Round Barrel with a Brass Pin Front Sight, Blue and Case Hardened with a Fluted Cylinder. The Pistol has Standard Markings with All Visible Serial Numbers. Pistol Retains Approximately 60%-70% of a Flaking Blue Finish with a Case Hardened Frame Showing Muted Case Color and the Cylinder Going to Gray Patina. The Straps Retain Approximately 80%-90% of the Original Silver Plate and the Smooth Wood Grips are Very Good with a Significant Amount of Original Varnish. Mechanically Excellent, the Action is Smooth and the Timing is Good. Pistol is Cased in a Period Hardwood Partition Case with Red Baize Interior in Overall Good Condition. The Case Includes a 36 Caliber Colt Marked Mold in Good Condition, a Double-Sided Eagle Flask with Considerable Original Lacquer, a Period W.C. Eley Cap Tin in Very Good Condition, Three Packages of Skin Cartridges, Bullets, Balls, "L" Shaped Combination Tool, Screwdriver and Key. The Exterior of the Case Shows Small Mars and Scratches but is in Overall Good Condition. An Attractive Civil War Era Colt Model 1862 Police with Case.
Lot 182: Colt Model 1860 Army
Cased Colt 1860 Army, 44 Caliber Percussion Revolver with Reproduction Shoulder Stock. The Pistol is Serial Number 89705 Indicating Manufacture in 1863 as Confirmed by the Accompanying Colt Factory Letter. The Pistol is in Very Good Overall Condition with an 8 Inch Round Barrel. The Pistol Retains Traces of Blue Finish in the Protected Areas with the Remainder Having Gone to an Even Gray Patina. There is Light Pinprick Pitting on Left Side of the Barrel. The Cylinder Retains Approximately 60%-70% of the Lightly Rolled Navy Scene with Significant Muted Case Coloring on the Frame with Numerous Proofs and Acceptance Marks. The Straps are Brass in the Front and Iron in the Rear with All Matching Visible Serial Numbers. The Three Screw Frame is Cut for Stock as is the Butt. Smooth Wood Grips are in Very Good Condition Showing Mars and a Small Chip at the Left Toe. The Left Grip has a Strong Cartouche, While the Right is Faint but Visible. The Action is Crisp and the Timing is Good with All the Nipples Intact and the Safety Pins are Hammered Down. Pistol is Cased in a Nice Reproduction Hardwood Partition Case with Blue Felt Interior. The Case is in Very Good Condition and Includes an Eley Cap Tin, Two Boxes of Period Skin Cartridges, a Reproduction Flask, the "L" Shaped Combination Tool, Assorted Projectiles, Key and a Very Nice Colt Mold Marked, "44H" on the Right Side Showing Significant Blue and Good Cavities. Additionally, the Case Includes a Reproduction Shoulder Stock with the Serial Number 18378 Added in Punch Dots. The Stock is the Correct Style but of Much Later Production and has been Artificially Aged to Match the Pistol. The Lot Includes a Colt Factory Letter Confirming All Features of the Pistol and Indicating the Pistol was Shipped to the US Government Commanding Officer Frankford Arsenal Brightsburg, Pennsylvannia on January 29, 1863 with 1,000 Guns in Shipment.
