This rare & desirable excellent condition circa-1941 Colt Service Model Ace in .22LR caliber w/ a 5″ barrel displays ~99% blued finish to the gun’s parts w/ correct magazine & polished barrel. The checkered two-piece walnut grips are also excellent w/ beautiful grain patterns. Markings are sharp, action is crisp & the bore/rifling are excellent. IMPORTANTLY, the gun is accompanied by an original Colt Factory letter confirming the caliber, barrel length, finish w/ Type of Stocks “Not Listed”; sold to The United States Government & shipped to the Commanding General of the Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts on October 22, 1941, Colt Factory Order #9966 as 1 of 90 same type guns in shipment. Lot 275A: COLT SAA REVOLVER .44/40 FACTORY LETTER/HOLSTER/BELT/BADGE/MEXICAN NATIONAL R.R. INSCRIBED
This very rare circa-1892 Antique Mexican Railroad-marked Colt Frontier Six Shooter in .44/40 caliber w/ a 7.5″ barrel displays an originally blued finish & case hardened frame that has now toned mostly to a gray silver finish with old bone grips. The Colt is factory role marked to the left side of the barrel “Mexican National R.R.” & comes complete with a factory letter- referenced belt & holster in addition to an original Texas/Mexican Rwy/Police badge included (NOTE: in our opinion, this period Blackington Badge Co.-marked octagonal, five point cut out star nickel finished brass badge is correct to the period). One could say “extremely rare” in the sense that factory letter information shows that on January 12, 1892, a shipment was sent to the Mexican Railroad of just 12 guns, which INCLUDED this revolver, & was shipped with a holster & money belt. The consignor notes that over the ensuing years, only one other revolver from this shipment has turned up, with both the belt & holster having been lost to time and the barrel on that example had been cut to 6″. It is noted that these two references are from the Gun Report Magazine, July 1958, page 22 and the Colt Peacemaker Encyclopedia by Cochran, page 267. The revolver itself remains in excellent mechanical condition with only minor deformation to the screw slots; markings are clear including the number “08” on the butt strap. The holster and belt appear unmarked but are consistent with Chicago manufactured examples. The money belt is in very good to fine condition and the holster, with four added small Mexican conchos, is very good to near fine. The grips show fractional shrinkage, no real losses and a lovely vertical group of striations. All four hammer clicks register well with good action and a fair to good bore. One would be pressed to find & handle another example of a Mexican Railroad Colt Single-Action, much less own one!! (Pre-98; No FFL Required)

However, this is usually an indication of a 7-1/2″ barrel length and walnut stocks as these were considered standard issue for that time period. In our opinion, this is as close as anyone will get to what a mint perfectly brand-new Colt Single-Action looked like 150 years ago. (Pre-98; No FFL Required)
